The Most Financially Comfortable Cities To Live In
Have you ever wondered how life would be on other cities besides the one you live in? Have you ever wondered if there are other cities around the world where you don’t need to struggle financially and keep getting personal loans to pay for your debts?
Well, actually there are many cities across the globe that are -financially speaking- far more comfortable for living that any city in the U.S.
In fact, the ranking for these cities was just revealed a few weeks ago, and it shows that when it comes to live without the financial pressures of mortgages and personal loans, Europe is king.
There is only one city in America that makes the list of these top 10 living-standards paradise: Vancouver, Canada.
Out of all the cities in the study, Vienna has the highest quality of life in the world. These rankings were released by Mercer, a consulting firm from New York. The cities that follow are Zurich, Switzerland; Auckland, New Zealand; Munich, Germany and Vancouver, Canada as we already mentioned. Surprisingly, among the 221 major world cities that participated for this ranking, the U.S. shows up only until position 28, with Honolulu.
This rankings is focused on providing a sense of the overall quality of living, but from an expat point of view. The rankings were also created by Mercer to help corporations know approximately how much they would have to compensate their employees when they work on international branches of their companies or when they perform assignments abroad. For example, sending a worker on a long trip to Khartoum, Sudan (No. 217 in the rank) might require the company to compensate the them with a higher salary than if they were sending them to Ottawa, Canada (No. 14).
To create this ranking, Mercer considered not one or two, but 39 different factors, including political stability, climate, crime level, financial stability, personal freedoms and more.
What has Vienna, for example, that makes it the No. 1 city on the list? To start, the Austrian city sports several amenities and recreational options. Additionally, it is in a country that has is very stable and has strong political structures and where getting personal loans or paying for them is not a struggle at all.
The region where cities are located also seem to play a very important factor. In fact, if you see the list, you might have realized that nine our of the top ten cities are from Europe. U.S. on its part takes 17 spots gathered between the positions 28 and 71. Naturally, cities in the Middle East and North Africa don’t fare too well mainly due to the political instability that these countries face currently.
It might surprise you that regions like Europe, that seem to be facing a lot of financial and employment issues, could reach such high spots on the list. Yet even despite their situations, the countries in this region remain more secure, safe and overall stable that other places across the world. Additionally, many political and financial authorities consider that the tough situation that these European cities and countries are going through is only temporary.
