8 Ways to Boost Your Income Now Part – 2
Yesterday we showed you the first two in a list of eight different things anyone can do right now in order to increase their income and not depend on external help like personal loans or similar things. Today, we will learn the third and fourth things that yo can do to boost your income on the side without sacrificing your current job.
3. Sharing Your Home With Others
One of the most effective ways to lower your monthly overall costs is to consider renting part of your home. It doesn’t have to be a major part. In fact, just renting a spare room should do for most. Take what the U.S. Census Bureau revealed on the year 2010: In that year alone, more than 6.2 million adults U.S. citizens lived at the house of someone who wasn’t a relative. This figure marks a dramatic increase on the 5.3 million people that did so in 2007, just three years prior to that.
Let’s say, for example, that you have a four or five bedroom home and for some reason thing don’t go as you plan financially. You don’t want to acquire a personal loan or to lend money from a friend. Well, there are several examples of people in this scenario that have chosen to rent one or two of the rooms at their homes and have seen extraordinary success. Not only have the people who they rented the rooms to have probed to be great people, but also the additional income they provide can be enough to pay for some substantial monthly expenses.
Additionally, having people of different countries or cultures around at home can provide priceless experiences, like being able to learn another language right from a native speaker, to know about their habits and the way they see the world, which are all enriching experiences.
If the idea of renting for the long term does not appeal to you however, you could always choose to offer lodging to tourists who are passing by. These scenarios usually tend to require a bit more work mainly due to the constant coming and going of people, but depending on where your home is located you could easily earn several dozens of dollars in a single night from just one room alone. If you are concerned about your potential guests being reliable enough, then you could simply partner with a tour agency for them to “pre-qualify” you potential guests and pay that agency just a few dollars of commission.
Lastly, whether you choose to rent a few of the rooms at home or to offer a couple of them as lodging, you should make sure to comply with your condo and homeowner’s association rules and regulations.
4. Monetize Your Hobby
When it comes to selling services or products online, Ebay is not the only option. In fact, there are several major websites where people sell things they create or manufacture in small scale right at home. Etsy and ArtFire are perfect examples of these popular craft sites where people from all over the country sell all kinds of products, ranging from handmade furniture to even purses.
Depending on the kind of product you might sell on these sites, expect to earn anything from $5 to $100 and more for each. Multiply that for a few sales and you will soon be earning a steady stream of additional income, all while at the same time expressing your and improving your skills.
Once you’ve been selling through one of these sites and gain a following among your customers, then you could easily switch to your own website and stop paying any commissions to the sites mentioned above.
In addition to that, if you have a somewhat more “complex” skill, like being proficient on software developments, on a hard-to-learn language or such, you could also offer lessons via the web or write short ebook to sell online.
There you go, two additional ways which you could use to increase your income almost immediately and without having to recur to personal loans or other financing methods.
